Termination

The therapeutic relationship may be brought to a thoughtful close when the work has reached a natural point of completion, when the goals of therapy have been sufficiently met, or when it becomes clear that a different form or level of care would better support your continued growth and well-being.

If therapy is to be terminated for any reason, we will, whenever possible, discuss this together in advance so that the process can be approached with care, clarity, and respect. In such cases, appropriate referrals and resources will be provided to support continuity of care.

I am committed to practicing in accordance with ethical standards and will not abandon clients. If services are discontinued, reasonable efforts will be made to ensure a smooth transition, including referrals, coordination of care when appropriate, and the opportunity for closure.

Clients also have the right to discontinue therapy at any time. If you choose to do so, I encourage you to communicate this decision so we may, if desired, have a final session to support a thoughtful and contained ending to our work together.
