Psychology … is not just fixing what is broken; it is nurturing what is best within ourselves.

Individual Therapy.

Without judgement, I meet you where you are—wherever you are—and encourage you to expand your ideas of how to incorporate mindfulness into your daily living to improve your well-being.

We collaborate to help you discover your strengths through reconstructing meaning in life, enhancing personal cultivation, and engaging in evidence-based techniques and practices that reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression, such as ruminating thoughts, panic attacks, lack of interest in engaging in activities, sleep disruptions, and feeling bad about yourself.

We work together to see where you excel and where you could improve your life’s eight areas of wellness—emotional, physical, social, spiritual, intellectual, environmental, financial, and vocational. We review your life story, identify areas you would like to work on, and work together to craft your next chapters.

WHAT DOES A counseling SESSION LOOK LIKE?

The first session is 60 minutes, which is followed by our initial 30-minute consult. This session gives you an opportunity to tell your story — what brings you to therapy. We review your eight areas of wellness and identify areas you would like to work on, be it improved relationships, a new vocation, intellectual curiosity, increasing your ability to recognize and accept emotions when they arise, or decreasing symptoms of depression, anxiety, or panic attacks. We may also discuss your family of origin.

Regular sessions are 55 minutes and may focus on your well-being, issues you bring, and continue our discussions from prior sessions. Homework may be given to help you track your goals or to identify triggers for your anxiety, or engage in behavior activation to reduce depressive symptoms.

During these sessions, you are the driver of your experiences. I listen closely with empathy and non-judgment. I pose questions, share observations, and actively engage you in a deeper exploration of your presenting topics to assist in finding a way to express your thoughts, feelings, and emotions in a safe and respectful manner. We may open or close a session with a breathing exercise, guided meditation, or body scan.

WHAT TOPICS DO WE DISCUSS?

All topics are open for discussion: relationships, work, school, caregiving, child rearing, physical health and life-threatening illness, spirituality, financial stability, social and environmental justice, LGBTQ+ rights, women’s issues, men’s issues, body positivity, depression, anxiety … the sky is the limit.

HOW MANY SESSIONS?

I recommend a commitment of at least 10 sessions, upon which we review progress and determine next steps together. You can terminate our work together at any time.
